This course introduces students to the fundamentals of American Sign Language (ASL), focuses on building receptive and expressive skills through a visual-gestural modality, and provides an overview of Deaf culture.
This course is offered at the graduate and undergraduate level. Undergraduates will be expected to participate fully in discussions, activities, and assignments and the instructor will differentiate certain outcomes and expectations when necessary.

At the end of this course, the students will able to:
Lectures will include demonstration of grammar and syntax in ASL with every new topic. New vocabulary will be given in every class. Also regional signs and the importance of flexibility will be discussed.
