Course Description

This school year has been one for the history books and one thing that we have learned is that we need to be prepared for things that we don’t see coming!  Collaborative Educational Technologies is intended to provide educators with a background and basic expertise in web based collaborative educational technologies with an emphasis on blended and online teaching.  These technologies can be used whether we are teaching from home or with our students in the classroom.  We will examine such technologies as learning management systems, blogging, Zoom, Google Hangouts, Flipgrid and many more we can use to create learning opportunities for students in the classroom or at home.

Course Goals & Objectives

Collaborative Educational Technologies is designed to meet the following goals:

1. To provide teachers with exposure and experience in using collaborative/transformative educational technologies that enhance teaching and learning regardless of the location.
2. Assist teachers with techniques that can be successfully used for online learning.
3. To help teachers create lessons using these technologies to enhance student learning.

To enable teachers to integrate collaborative educational technologies into their curriculum.

Course Projects/Objectives

This course is designed to help educators learn about collaborative web based tools and create lessons and a unit using those tools that they can integrate into their classroom curriculum.

• Complete/watch all of the assigned readings/videos for each week so that online discussions can be as full and informed as possible. If you have to miss a week for any reason (vacation, sickness), please let me know and you can retrieve assignments/videos from our learning management system.
• Develop lesson plans for your content units using the technology 2.0 tools that you will use in your teaching.
• Participation in on-line discussions each week
• Explore the Universal Design for Learning and how it is best practice for online and blended teaching.
