Camille Stengel of Ludlow, Vermont, says that the size of Castleton and its proximity to home set the school apart as a frontrunner when she began looking at schools. The intimate setting allowed the Chemistry major to easily acclimate to college life.
“I enjoy how small and rural the environment is,” Stengel said. “It made my experience here easier because I knew my professors and classmates on a personal level.”
Stengel, who originally intended to be a Biology major, made the decision to pursue Chemistry because she found it to be more interesting. Castleton's Department of Natural Sciences has had a significant impact on her love for science.
“All the hands-on labs, research opportunities, and classes in which they make you think outside the box influenced me by expanding my liking towards Chemistry and science,” Stengel said.
After graduating, Stengel says she plans on furthering her studies in Europe.
