The Theater Arts Department at Castleton encourages its tightly knit group of students to explore all of the possibilities for personal expression in theater.
Students have numerous opportunities for practical experience in a variety of production settings including: main stage plays and musicals, black box productions, Castleton Collaborative Arts, and many student projects. . Small class sizes allow students to work closely with our dedicated faculty in a project-based environment that encourages collaboration
Theater Art Productions in Casella Theater and the Black Box Theater allow you to hone your craft in a public forum. You will acquire the knowledge to discuss and analyze productions, demonstrate a high degree of competency in one or more areas of theatrical production, and appropriately utilize materials to achieve the desired effects.
You will have many opportunities to be active outside of the classroom. Each semester you can participate in mainstage productions. Recent productions include "Guys and Dolls," "Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson," "Rhinoceros," “Catch Me if You Can,” and “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.”
Castleton theater students participate in the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival in competitions for acting, stage management, and designs in lighting, sound, set, and make-up.
Castleton's Theater Arts program can equip you with a wide range of skills that can be applied across multiple career paths in the ever-changing world of live performance.

Castleton graduates have been successful on and off stage in summer theater, Off-Broadway, television, film, and educational theater, as well as in graduate school.
