Jeff Weld has spent his professional career committed to cultivating and honing his passion for strategic communications while bringing people together to form effective and creative partnerships that maximize shared value.
Weld spent the first 15 years of his career at Castleton University where he helped to guide the strategic branding and communications efforts through positions of escalating responsibility, culminating as Dean of Advancement where he oversaw all fundraising, marketing, and communications for the University. While at Castleton he also spent ten seasons as an assistant women’s basketball coach, part-time communications coordinator for the North Atlantic Conference, and as a part-time member of the faculty. He currently teaches classes in Sport Communication and Business Communication at Castleton.
After leaving Castleton he became the Director of Community Engagement for Casella Waste Systems, Inc., where he oversees all engagement and marketing functions for the regional solid waste, recycling and resource management services company headquartered in Rutland. Weld’s duties include facilitating and amplifying the more than $1.2 million in annual philanthropic contributions the company invests to help create vibrant communities where it operates, as well as broad storytelling and brand-building.
He is currently a member of the board of directors at the Rutland Community Cupboard and Visiting Nurses Association & Hospice of the Southwest Region.
