The Castleton Downtown Gallery located at the Center Street Alley in Rutland is pleased to present Six Sides of the Cube by Bianca Hildenbrand and Whitney Ramage. The exhibit will run from July 23 through August 24, with an “Artists’ Reception” scheduled for July 26 at 6 p.m. in the gallery.
ABOUT THE SHOW
It's a bit surprising how often the simple geometry of the cube seems to crop up in contemporary art. This elegant form has been a key building block throughout human history. Six Sides of the Cube is a compilation of the work of six young artists from around the world who all engage the cube in a variety of different ways, and in different relations to today's intriguing and complex sociopolitical climate. The aim of this exhibition is to demonstrate how simplicity of form can be an armature for thought as well as a powerful force unto itself. It is designed to make us consider the value of the fundamentals and remind us that, although we are ever evolving, there are some things (be they form, object, or idea) so inextricably embedded in the human condition that they have become a part of our very nature.
The gallery hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday: 1-6 p.m. and Friday: 1-7 p.m.
