Substantially increasing its support for the 2013 Gift-of-Life Marathon Blood Drive, Castleton today joined Green Mountain Power and WJJR as a presenting event sponsor.
Pledging to boost outreach and increase donor and volunteer recruitment for the drive, Castleton has partnered with the Gift-of-Life organization to ensure that this year’s event is a success.
“Castleton’s connection to Rutland grows deeper by the year, and we see the Gift-of-Life Marathon as one of Rutland’s premier community-building events, so we want to help make it a huge success,” said President Dave Wolk. “From the student body to our staff, we are committed to making a big impact and ensuring that the greater Rutland community has a great day on December 17.”
The drive will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Paramount Theatre, American Legion, College of St. Joseph, Elks Club and Holiday Inn.
Wolk said the recent announcement of plans to go for the national record one more time inspired many in the Castleton community to ask how they could get involved. As a result, Castleton decided to get much more involved itself, prompting today’s announcement.
Faculty, staff and students who wish to participate in the GOLM can sign up in the Robert T. Stafford Center, receiving a surprise gift upon registration as supplies last.
Dedicated to the cause, President Wolk, a staunch Red Sox fan, has even vowed to sport a Yankee Jersey if more than 100 Castleton community members sign up to donate.
Bus transportation will be available throughout the day to bring donors back and forth to campus. Blood drive appointments will be offered at all locations, with special time slots held for the community at the following times and locations:
Upon sign-in at these locations, each guest will automatically be entered into an event raffle. Check out the list of prizes below!
