Castleton is pleased to announce the Vermont Collegiate Choral Consortium will perform on Friday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. in Casella Theater. The choir is a combination of the Castleton Chamber Singers, Johnson State College Chamber Singers, and the Saint Michael’s College Chorale.
This trio of Vermont college choruses is teaming up to sing Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Solemn Vespers. Composed in 1780 and a setting of six texts from the Book of Psalms and the New Testament, this piece is noted as one of the greatest major choral works in the repertory. Accompanied by their directors and the professional instrumentalists of Burlington Ensemble, the singers’ performance will mark the third collaboration among Vermont collegiate choral programs.
The chorus will also perform Saturday, Nov.23 at 7:30 p.m. at Saint Michael’s College in the Chapel of Saint Michael the Archangel. Admission to this concert is free, but donations are appreciated. Information is available by calling (802) 654-2284.
Tickets for the Castleton event are $5 for adults, $3 for students and seniors, and free with a Castleton student ID. To purchase tickets go online. For more information regarding the Vermont collegiate choral consortium please call the Fine Arts Center Box Office at (802) 468-1119.
