In celebration of Halloween and the fall season coming to an end, residence life is currently hosting Fall Festival.
“We are hoping to achieve a community program for students to have a chance to be a part of the community that make the residence halls a great place to live and learn,” Mike Robilotto said. “The students are why we do what we do and are what makes this job fun every day. We are looking for a great turnout and to talk to students about what they would like to see in the future.”
The festival will start with a ‘Run for your lives’ mile long, zombie marathon at 5:30 p.m. in front of the Glenbrook Gym on Wednesday. There is no fee or registration for the event, just show up and get ready to run for your life! The first male and female winners will get a free pair of Nike iD running shoes.
After the run a bonfire will take place by the lake at 9 p.m. with s’mores.
Thursday, on the Huden Dining Hall patio between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., residence life will be hosting a number of activities such as spin art Frisbees, photo white boards, green screen photos, pumpkin painting, license plates, carnival games, free t-shirts with tie-dye and a magician.
From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. a costume contest will take place in the basketball court outside of Huden, weather permitting. The top three best costumes will receive prizes.
For Harry Potter lovers, a Quidditch game will take place on the Alumni field from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
From 8:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., 15-minute long Haunted Castleton walking tours will be going on, leaving from Wheeler Hall.
A grilled cheese truck will be on campus, in the basketball court in front of Huden, for a late-night snack; the first 100 people will receive a free grilled cheese.
“I’m hoping this event will help build a positive community spirit among the residential students and help them feel like they’re part of something good. With all the fun social activities and take-aways we have in store for them, I think we’ll be able to accomplish that. Also, I’m really excited about this fancy grilled cheese truck! I think the students will love it,” Alice Mayer said.
