The Castleton field hockey team is taking a trip across the Atlantic to spend a week playing and traveling in Ireland, leaving the country on May 22 and returning home on May 29.
The team will spend the week competing with Irish club teams, as well as participating in clinics with top Irish coaches. When off the field, the group will have the chance to take in the city of Dublin, as well as explore the Irish countryside.
Head Coach Tammy Landon knows this is an once-in-a-lifetime experience for her players. "This is a fantastic opportunity for our 18 returning players as we look to gain experience for the 2013 season after winning the NAC Championship last year," said Landon. "We also couldn't have done this without all the support we received from family, friends and the university."
In total 19 student-athletes, as well as Landon, assistant coach Andrea Way and athletic trainer Hannah Goeggelman will make the trek to Ireland. Fans, friends and family can follow them on the team's twitter account: @CastletonFH
