The Castleton mentoring program will celebrate the conclusion of its ninth year with a mock graduation for the future college class of 2025 on Tuesday, April 22 at 12:30 p.m. in the Casella Theater.
A total of 40 fifth grade students from Castleton Elementary School will participate in the graduation, along with their mentors from Castleton University. Their fellow fourth graders will accompany them as well, celebrating the end of another great year of the program.
The ceremony will feature all of the usual traditions of a college graduation, including the presentation of special diplomas, speeches from keynote speakers and an awards ceremony.
Immediately following the ceremony a reception will be held in the Fine Arts Center lobby. Light refreshments will be served.
The event is free, and open to the public.
The Castleton mentoring program began in 2005, pairing Castleton student-athletes with students from the elementary school to help begin preparing the young students for their future in higher learning. The program flourished, expanding to include students across the entire campus and ballooning to more than 900 involved students over the course of eight years.
