Castleton professor Andy Vermilyea will be the first in a series of speakers hosted by the Green Mountain Power College Lecture Series on December 3 at 5:30 pm at the GMP Energy Innovation Center located on Merchants Row in downtown Rutland.
The monthly lecture series is part of a recent agreement between GMP and all four Rutland County colleges to work together to bolster economic, educational and community development. The lectures will be held at GMP’s new Energy Innovation Center and will be given by professors from each of the Rutland County colleges. The presentations will explore a variety of energy issues, including the science of energy, renewable power, financial concerns and the psychology of energy use.
Dr. Vermilyea will open the monthly series with a talk entitled “Energy and the Environment.” Dr. Vermilyea has done extensive study of the impacts of climate change on ecosystems from Vermont to Alaska. The lecture will begin at 5:30 pm and is expected to last 1 hour with discussion.
In addition to Castleton, the other participating colleges are the Community College of Vermont, the College of Saint Joseph, and Green Mountain College.
