Keeping our campus as safe as possible is a responsibility that is shared by our entire campus community. While we cannot guarantee we will not have COVID-19 on our campus, Castleton is following local, state, and federal guidelines and recommendations in order to best protect its students, faculty, and staff. This includes frequent cleaning of high-traffic areas, mandatory mask wearing for staff and faculty while in public areas of campus buildings, strict social distancing protocols, daily temperature checks of staff, and more.
The Spartan Pledge will contain all information you need regarding our social distancing requirements and policies. All students (living on campus or off) are expected to sign the Spartan Pledge which commits you to follow health and safety guidelines, including wearing a mask at all times per University and state mask mandates. Students can access the Spartan Pledge by logging into their portal.
All enrolled students are required to have two COVID tests within 7 days of arrival to campus. The first tests need to be completed on Day 0 (arrival day or within 48 hours of arrival) and the second needs to be completed 7 days after arrival. These tests will be conducted on campus free of charge during limited scheduled time periods.
In addition to these two arrival tests, students will be selected for additional testing throughout the semester.
Athletes will be required to complete routine testing during their competitive seasons.
No institution of higher education can guarantee that COVID-19 will not appear on their campus. Castleton will follow guidelines and recommendations from public health officials and the State of Vermont in order to mitigate the risk of an outbreak. Preventing an outbreak of COVID-19 is a shared responsibility of our entire campus community.
